Are you like us and LOVE the idea of holiday decorations, but the time and cost make it feel less than fun?
Here are some ideas for decorating to easily make your home festive this year:
- Reuse and repurpose what you already have: Stores want you to buy new decorations each year (that’s literally how they make money!), but you don’t have to go out and buy brand-new things each year. Try styling your old decorations in new ways and different places throughout your home. If you do want some new things, try thrifting some unique items or splurge on one or two new decorations.
- Use natural resources: This might sound silly, but you can find a LOT of pine branches, wooden sticks, and holly in your backyard or around town. Throw some lights on those branches, and you’ll be surprised at how great they look (and smell!).
A friend of mine went to a wreath-making party once where the host had gathered wreath materials from store parking lots (pine branches, berries, pinecones, etc.) and thrifted DIY wreaths and twine. They drank mulled wine, made the CUTEST wreaths, and had the best time!
- Set yourself up for success: Set aside some time on the calendar, turn on Christmas music, heat some cocoa, and get yourself in the Christmas spirit. Half the fun of
decorating is all about setting the scene and enjoying the feelings that the holidays bring.
